Internet Safety Presentation

Sally, Stephen & Rachel attended a Wisekids internet safety training day.  If any parents are concerned about their children and internet safety then please express your interest with the Community Centre staff or C1st Team and we will arrange for Wisekids to visit and do a brief presentation one evening.

Playtex, Gossard and Wonderbra fitting Evening in the Cafe
  • The bra fitting evening organised by our Community Centre staff attracted 25 community members who all had a great evening in the Centre Cafe.
  • The team from the McArthur Glenn shop provided excellent advice and agreed to come back for the benefit of those who could not attend and will bring some products which will be for sale on the night.
  • Davina organised a raffle which raised £20 on the night, which was kindly donated to the after school club.

Youth Update:
  • After School
Funding is still being sought for the After School Playgroup. The Community Association will be working with the Merthyr Tydfil Play Forum and the Trefechan Communities First Staff on a continuation plan and funding strategy.
  •  Youth Club
C1st has funded the youth club for another year and the Community Association has contacted the Local Authority to provide Employment services for another year.
The Youth Team has sadly been depleted with both Kevin & Debra standing down - they have both been the backbone of our youth team since it started and will be sadly missed.  The club is now in desperate need of a female youth worker.
EASTER FUN

The Easter Egg hunt held in the Community Centre Garden and Cafe was enjoyed by over 20 Children who each received eggs from the Community Association.
Communities First funded a cake making session in the Senior Citizens Hall, two young biscuit makers enjoying the fun are pictured left.

Vaynor Quarry
Update

The fixed crushing and screening plant is in the process of being removed. The demolition and removal should be completed by the end of April.
The only buildings to remain on site will be those required for the Road Planing Recycling operation

The structures that will remain are:

  • the portal steel aggregates storage shed in the south western corner of the site,
  • the corrugated roofed storage building to receive and store raw road planings
  • the weighbridge building and offices.

The quarry will be used from time to time as contractual work arises and the right to re-open the quarry will undoubtedly be taken up in the future.
